Depending on the reason for which you are applying, you will have to take one of two versions of the exam:

Academic, designed for those who plan to attend university in an English-speaking country and need, as the name suggests, to acquire an academic knowledge of the language;

General Training, designed for those moving to an English-speaking country for work, to undertake a non-university course of study, or for those planning to immigrate to countries such as Australia, Canada and New Zealand, which require it as an entry requirement.
